WWE's Randy Orton Has Meltdown During Mexican Interview
WWE champ Randy Orton lost his cool during an interview with a Mexican TV reporter. ver the weekend in Mexico while he was a guest on a Televisa sports show in Mexico City.
Orton appeared on a sports talk show for the Televisa network. During the interview, a reporter tried to joke around with Orton about what he liked to eat for breakfast. He then told Orton that he was "fragile."
Orton lost his temper and told the announcer, "You wanna talk shit to me, look at me. Call me fragile, I'll head butt your teeth down your throat." He added, "Say something funny again, boy" and walked off the set.
The Randy Orton meltdown was similar to an incident when wrestler David Schultz slapped reporter John Stossel on ABC's 20/20. Years before he became a star reporter at ABC, Stossel did a report uncovering the artifice of pro wrestling. Stossel interviewed Schultz and asked him point-blank if wrestling was fake
On December 28, 1984, during an interview for 20/20 on professional wrestling, wrestler David Schultz struck Stossel after he asked whether professional wrestling was fake. Schultz then slapped Stossel in the side of the head, knocking him to the ground. Stossel claims that he suffered from pain and buzzing for months afterward and successfully sued the WWF for $425,000.
Of course, since this is wrestling it's hard to say just how real Orton's meltdown was. Like everything else in the WWE, the line between reality and fantasy is blurred, leading many to think that the interview was nothing more than a publicity stunt.
