Yankees Blue Jays Brawl Video: Jorge Posada Sparks Yankee Fight
The New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays got into a nasty bench-clearning brawl during the eighth inning of the Yanks 10-4 loss. The fight was sparked by Yankees veteran Jorge Posada who stormed the mound to attack Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Carlson.
Jesse Carlson walked off the field with a noticeable gash on his forehead. Yankees manager Joe Girardi also was banged up during the brawl.
The Yankees-Blue Jays brawl began after Jorge Posada scored on a double and bumped into Carlson after crossing home plate. Earlier in the inning, Carlson threw behind Posada earlier in the inning, in apparent retaliation for two Blue Jays hit by pitches earlier.
Johnny Damon of the Yankees and Toronto's Rod Barajas then got involved and the incident turned into a full-on brawl.
It was the second time the benches had cleared that inning. Players had come onto the field after Carlson threw the initial pitch behind Posada's head.
Both Posada and Carlson were ejected from the game, with suspensions likely to follow.
