Zimbabwe [besides being known for its natural beauty and the antics of its President Mugabe] is also recognized as a country where people with HIV and AIDS are stygmatized. It appears that a group of Zimbabwean Female Football [Soccer] Players want to change that.

ARV Swallows is one of the teams that have been playing in competitions in order to address the HIV and AIDS issue in the country. While there has been some resistance to the concept of addressing HIV and AIDS, the team continues to play. One of the players has even admitted that being a member of the team has helped her health.

Chris Sambo who is the coordinator of ARV Swallows and a former Chief Executive of the Zimbabwe Premier League has expressed a desire for an international competition for the team. He is also angered that the games are played before a small crowed. Regardless, he is still hopeful that this is the beginning and that change occurs at a very small pace.
