Sports Media: The Song Of the NCAA Basketball Tournament Remains the Same

“Bzzzzzzz.” What the hell is that noise? Oh, it’s the sound of the hive mind again.

I’ve grown weary with the annual slew of pieces condemning the
notion of amateurism that come out twice a year, during NCAA football
bowl season and now, during March Madness. Such pap. Almost to a
person, the format for each piece goes something like this: I used to
love March Madness, and then I went to college and played DIII (fill in
the sport) but still found time to get ragingly stupid with my buddies
during the tournament. Then I took a job (fill in the blank) and met
so-and-so pro athlete. So-and-so pro athlete enlightened me as to how
slimy big-time college sports really is....
