If you have been reading Wanni's stuff over the last year or so, you will have been introduced to his amazing Horizon Lanka Academy, an after-school school for children in the Mahavilachchiya region in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka.

He's been instrumental in bringing computer-assisted learning to the children of farmers and this past week, the President of Sri Lanka, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha, praised the school and Wanni for his exemplary work.

The president presided over the graduation ceremonies of new teachers and congratulated them on their new appointments. He took the opportunity to praise the work of Horizon Lanka and and its teacher, Nandasiri Wanninayake ( who we know as "wanni77").

“Recollecting the ’success story’ of Mahavilachchiya's Horizon Lanka Academy the President urged the teaching fraternity to emulate the exemplary teacher who has performed wonders and revolutionised the lifestyle there in Information Technology and English"

We are so proud of Wanni, who not only is recognized at NowPublic as a great member, but is also a News Wrangler .

Have a look at some of the photos of Wanni's students - and think about what many of us take for granted.
