US State Department spokesman, Gonzo Gallagos Describes the New Illegal
Israeli Settlement of Maskiot as a Violation of the Roadmap! WOW!
US
condemns (where's the condemnation?) Israeli development of the Maskiot
settlement, considering it a violation of the roadmap
Date: 29 / 12 / 2006
Time: 11:12
U.S. State Department spokesman, Gonzo Gallagos, has said: "We
are aware of reports about the (illegal Israeli) Maskiot settlement. The
establishment of a new settlement or the expansion of an existing settlement
would violate Israel's obligations under the Roadmap.
"We are seeking an
explanation from the Israeli Government regarding this development. The U.S.
calls on Israel to meet its Roadmap obligations and avoid taking steps that
could be viewed as pre-determining the outcome of final status negotiations. The
Roadmap specifically states that 'progress will require and depend upon the good
faith efforts of the parties'….
"We will continue to work with Israel and the
Palestinians to encourage progress towards the realization of President Bush's
vision of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and
security."
(As long as the US continues sending billions of dollars every
year as financial and military assistance to the Zionist state, the Israeli
occupation, annexation, and grabbing of Palestinian lands continue. In this
case, such a statement is nothing but media lip service, business as
usual).

US crtitical of Israeli government for imposing another
settlement in West Bank
Palestine News Network Friday, 29 December 2006 In
an unusual move the United States is openly criticizing the Israeli government,
not for its violations of international law, but for its violations of the Road
Map of which the US considers itself one of the architech's.
The European
Union issued a similar, but more strongly worded, condemnation two days ago
after Israel announced it would go ahead with a new settlement in the West
Bank's northern Jordan Valley, Maskiot. The US statement follows:
U.S. State
Department Spokesman Gonzo Gallagos, said,
"We are aware of reports about the
Maskiot settlement. The establishment of a new settlement or the expansion of an
existing settlement would violate Israel's obligations under the Roadmap.
"We
are seeking an explanation from the Israeli Government regarding this
development. The U.S. calls on Israel to meet its Roadmap obligations and avoid
taking steps that could be viewed as pre-determining the outcome of final status
negotiations. The Roadmap specifically states that 'progress will require and
depend upon the good faith efforts of the parties….'
"We will continue to
work with Israel and the Palestinians to encourage progress towards the
realization of President Bush's vision of two states, Israel and Palestine,
living side by side in peace and security."
