Stephen Colbert Day Celebrated in Oshawa, Ontario
Tonight at the General Motors Centre arena in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada; Mayor John Gray came good on his bargain with comedian Stephen Colbert.
The Mayor and Colbert made a bet on whose hockey team would win, the Oshawa Generals, or the Saginaw Spirit (whose mascot Steagle Cobeagle the Eagle is named after the comedian). The Mayor lost the bet and as anyone who follows Mr. Colbert's antics knows well, Mayor Gray agreed to make today, his own birthday, "Stephen Colbert Day" in Oshawa.
Festivities, dubbed "Grin and Bear It," included a Stephen Colbert look-alike contest, an appearance by celebrity hockey commentator, and former NHL coach Don Cherry, free cake and free Dr. Pepper (reputedly, Mr. Colbert's favorite drink)
