1 in 3 British women admit having sex with two men on holiday

The sunshine has strange and wonderful effects on us or is it nothing to do with sunshine at all - just the idea of being on holiday. The UK (along with the USA) has the highest rates of unplanned teenage pregnancy and also the highest rates for unplanned pregnancy and abortion in the world amongst women of all ages. Our social behaviour patterns and what moves us to act in particular ways coupled with what society feels at any particular time in history is acceptable behaviour both morally and culturally are worth examining - including the ways that they are reported perhaps too - here mens behaviour - which is only a little lower in terms of reported sexual activity - doesn't make the headline - now that's something perhaps that's worth having a think about.

Young British women leave behind their inhibitions as well as their worries when they go on their summer holiday, a survey shows.

One-third of those questioned admitted having slept with at least two men during the same holiday.

One in six has had a fling with three or more men, according to the poll of 2,000 women with an average age of 25.

Of course, the focus is on women. I have to echo this comment on the source:

"But boys are as tempted to stray as girls, with the same proportion of men admitting to holiday infidelity."

So why is it women's behaviour that makes the headlines?

What about British (or other) men on holidays?

The misogyny in those comments is shocking, though I wouldn't expect anything else from Daily Mail readers.

What makes this newsworthy for NowPublic unless you are just pandering? You really had to stretch to post this one.

Hi Rene - the story - when you read the highlighted article - goes beyond mere titilation - there are serious issues in the underlying figures for both men and women - not least in the number that when on holiday forget about safe sex practices. The UK (along with the USA) has the highest rates of unplanned teenage pregnancy and also the highest rates for unplanned pregnancy and abortion in the world amongst women of all ages. Our social behaviour patterns and what moves us to act in particular ways coupled with what society feels at any particular time in history is acceptable bevaiour both morally and culturally are worth examining - including the ways that they are reported perhaps too - here mens behaviour - which is only a little lower in terms of reported sexual activity - doesn't make the headline - now that's something that's worth having a look at and discussing as a result of the post - and that's what's happened in the thread.

Always good to get your thoughts. Thanks. :-)

Four words: alcohol, anonymity, and easy escape.

The pedant in me is just too much to control - that was actually five words (including the "and").

But seriously, I do have issues with using the Daily Mail as the only source of a news story. It's not exactly the standard bearer of rounded, quality or, dare I say it, interesting material. And it's not even as amusing as the Sun most of the time. Crikey, can't believe I just wrote that last line.

And Lotusflower, maybe if you wanted to make those very valid points, you should have included them in you intro rather than let the highlight tool do the talking.

Boy, those two men must get tired!  ;}

Basically, who cares? I don't. I don't care except that as generaldecay pointed out, once again the microscope is on women. How about a story about men's sexual practices on holiday, or on weekends?
