10/10/10: The Biggest Wedding Day Since 09/09/09
While many people today are celebrating 09/09/09, many number fans are already looking forward to 10/10/10, October 10, 2010.
The number seems to be particularly popular with couples about to get married. Just as 08-08-08 and 09-09-09 have been popular wedding dates, so is 10-10-10. It also helps that 10/10/10 falls on a Sunday.
According to a Singaporean newspaper, many hotels in the Asian country are filling up fast for 10/10/10.
Couples have even come up with a twisted logic to justify the significance of 10/10/10.
As '10' marks the end of a single-digit set of numbers, Oct 10, 2010 symbolises the union of two individuals and the start of living together. This may explain couples' early interest in the date.
If you ask me, the real motivation for all these numerical weddings is coming from the grooms and not the brides. After all, having a simple wedding date will make it almost impossible to forget your anniversary. No matter how forgetful a husband may be, it's easy to remember dates like 09-09-09 or 10-10-10, thereby preventing a husband from a lifetime of having to sleep on the couch.
