Fun turned to frustration as dozens of cyclists created a scene near Leicester Square Tube Station at around 6.30pm Friday 26th September.
Pedestrians waited to cross as a stream of cyclists went by, and when the traffic lights turned, black taxis and other vehicles were blocked by some of the cyclists who stopped infront of the vehicles to let the stream of cyclists continue.
Several red and green traffic lights later a police car showed up and got the cyclists to move, in one instance with a physical shove.
The cyclists went on but the lights had reverted to red so the car jam waited yet again, and when their lights went green, more cyclists from the steady stream stopped to purposely block the traffic again.
A few angry exchanges from the Taxi drivers with the cyclists talking about 'we pay for these roads' from the drivers and 'now you know how it feels when you keep hogging the roads' from the cyclists.
The police seemed to have little more power than to beckon the cyclists 'back on yer back'.
The picture attached shows the scene, with a green light, cyclist blockage, and police car.
The flow of cycles slowed down after 10 minutes and the traffic was finally able to move again.
