A 15-pound baby was born in Racine, Minnesota. Wendi Dolton and husband Mike Dolton welcomed their new son Axel LaVerne Dolton to the world. Little Axel LaVerne weighed 15 pounds 6 ounces at the time he was born.

The Doltons have even given their 15-pound baby, who was born during the Thanksgiving holiday, the nickname "Butterball."

"Butterball, yep, our butterball," laughs his mom. "Big cheeks, big chubby cheeks and no neck."

What makes the 15-pound baby even more astounding is that he was born three weeks premature. Axel LaVerne is still in intensive care, although Wendi and Mike Dolton expect to take him home soon.

One down side of giving birth to a 15-pound baby?

"I had some clothes ready for him, and yes, he's outgrown them already," says Wendi. "And my family bought clothes and they won't fit him."

A large baby is usually the result of the mother having diabetes or, developing diabetes during her pregnancy.  Age has nothing to do with it.

How can you call a 15 pound 6 ounce baby a premature baby!!! I call it an overdue baby and that the mother and the doctor just miscalulated the due date. Or she just ate so much that the baby got fat.
