NP Rank:
7 Foot Long Dog, Landseer Newfoundland Boomer, Record-Holder?
Carolyn Webber of Casselton, North Dakota just might be the owner of the record-holding, biggest dog in the world. Boomer, a 3-year-old Landseer Newfoundland, stands 3 feet tall and measures out, from his nose to the tip of his tail, to an astounding 7 feet long. Weighing in at a hefty 180 pounds, the pilous black-and-white Boomer consumes a 20-pound bag of puppy chow every few weeks and as for water, the colossal canine stands on all four paws and drinks straight from the kitchen faucet.
Weber plans to send Boomer's measurements to Guinness World Records. The previous record holder was a nearly 4-foot-tall Great Dane that died this summer.
Although he may not be as famous as the Obama family's First-pup Bo, Newfoundlands, Boomer's breed, have a history of roaming the white house halls; Presidents Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, and James Buchanan all had Newfies as companions while in office.

Rudi is not as big as Boomer, he measures nose to tail 72". When we eat dinner, he comfortably rests his head on the dinner table with us. We always have to watch out that we don't leave any food on the counter by the stove because he can easily grab it, which he has when we did leave some items out before putting them in the fridge.
