Ann Timson FIghts Off Armed Robbers with Handbag

When Ann Timson saw four men trying to smash their way into a jewelry store in Northhamptonshire, she could have called the police or shouted for help. Instead, Timson took a page from Lisbeth Salander's book and viciously attacked all three men at once. This being the UK, the incident was caught on video, so now the whole world is seeing four robbers, aged 18 through 39, getting their asses kicked by Ann Timson, who looks like your grandmother.

The video shows the four men pull up on scooters and attempt to smash into the jewelry store with sledgehammers. As the store's emergency shutters start to deploy, we can see Ann Timson tear up the street and start laying into the nearest robber. He tries to hit Timson with a hammer, but she's too fast, taking him down with her trusty handbag.

The robbers then scramble for their bikes, but not all of them make a clean getaway. One of the perps is taken down by the now-mobilized onlookers. The four men were apprehended.

Speaking exclusively to the Chronicle & Echo she said: “I was standing talking with a woman when I heard a commotion and I looked across and saw six young men on scooters.

“At first I thought one of them was being set upon by three others. I was not going to stand by and watch somebody take a beating or worse so I tried to intervene.

Nobody else got involved, though there was plenty of foot traffic. Some later said that they thought the robbery was staged.

The have-a-go-hero said she would not be giving any further interviews but in a statement released this afternoon she added: “Passers by didn’t come to my assistance to begin with. I was amazed at that, but they all seemed mesmerised.

Manager of Michael Jones Jewellers, Luke Allebone, said: “I was inside at the time.

“We saw a chap come to the window, he had a motorcycle helmet on and he had a large hammer and he just started bashing away at the Rolex window. We could hear more of them hitting the windows so we put the shutters down and our security procedures started.”
