Annie Lobért, the founder of Hookers for Jesus has married Oz Fox from the Christian band Stryper in a ceremony in Las Vegas.
They were married at the Church of South Las Vegas in front of a crowd and an internet audience.
Annie used to be a call girl in Vegas but after finding her faith in religion she founded Hookers for Jesus and then she found her husband.
She had worked as a prostitute for 11 years, making as much as $500 an hour. She said she hit rock bottom when she overdosed on cocaine and everything went black, according to an ABC interview posted on her Web site. She asked Jesus to help her and became what many jokingly call a "porn-again Christian."
an international, faith-based organization that addresses the realities of human sex trafficking, sexual violence and exploitation linked to pornography and the sex industry

Whether one can claim that benefits of her healing come directly from a man who lived 2,000 years ago or not, the fact of the matter is that the psyche will use the appropriate icon or symbol to help the conscious mind get beyond itself, find a new center outside of its self, and then began the work of self-reclamation from legitimate feeling.
Prostitution does victimize its participants, especially the prostitute in the long run, by reducing intimacy to an commercial exchange. Feeling is overridden and the physiological triumphs over and reduces the value of psyche.

I hate the way the news talks about Annie. She is such a sweet person. Prostitute or not she's had a tough life if she's help these girls if Vegas more power to her.

It certainly is amazing.
However! I have to tell, from my education and listening to a lot of people in 12 step programs concerning deep wounding such as this ( sexual addictiion, acting out..repetition etc.) her interpretation of Jesus, the Bible is another type of escape, geographic cure etc. It has been said that the soft addiction to food recoverers will inevitably unconsciously get around food and end up even working with it. Oprah opened a restaurant after one of her first big weight losses as an example. An alcoholic will never work as a bartender etc.
Any idolization of Jesus as it appears (I am not qualified about her ) tends to crumble the first brick wall they hit. Her chances of this marriage working are slim..then she "could" be like the prisoners tend to do what is familiar.
Legalistic christians have no clue about the illness and power of addictions. Some ministers do and are good in counseling. I cannot and do not want to speak for all by any means.
Still , her story is one of hope. It is also said the power of Grace (holy spirit)...God can never be explained, so I sincerely love stories of redemption, transformation. Usually they are quiet and do not get on the street corner..no pun intended. I heard Ricky the son of Lucille Ball once say that a person recovering from a deep wound must/should wait a long time before speaking about it. I saw this later in life as I saw so many people "braggin' about their experiences which addicts tend to be compulsive liars (the Clintons are an example) in meetings. They are still like little children needing approval. "Look Daddy, do you love me now..look how good I am" . A real conversion does not have to "do good works "
She is also being used for the wrong reasons in the press just as here so many cannot stand to receive a comment unless it applauds their idea. It is their current side show. What will happen to Annie when all the attention is gone? Perhaps on her path she will be provided with a lot fora long time.
The real test will be her marriage. I saw her on Oprah but do not really know all about this.I remember when Amber , Scott Peterson's mistress got married. It too failed. It takes serious , quiet and painful work to clean out the wound from a damaged childhood. All kinds of feelings must come to awareness and be felt. Let's wait and see and hope .
I have seen a lot of Bible thumpers who do not have a clue...they use their mind inebriated from beiing able to "quote" scripture as a defense. They are a kind of controll addict who has nottouched their feeling body.
Perhaps she is a modern day Paul...for conversions do happen..spirit can come.
This is a good story that is still evolving.

This is wonderful news. I hope that other women who, unfortunately, were led astray into prostitution would follow her footsteps and believe in themselves and have faith in God that they will be guided into turning their lives around would follow Annie as an example and walk the path of the enlightened ones.
