Ardi Rizal, Two-Year-Old Smoking Baby Quits Smoking
Arid Rizal, the Two-Year-Old From Indonesia that Shocked the World With His Smoking Habit Has Reportedly Quit
Arid Rizal had a two-pack a day smoking habit and would become agitated whenever anyone tried to take his cigarettes away from him. He could not play with other children because his lungs were too weak and he suffered from severe mood swings. His parents said they tried to do everything they could but they could not get their toddler to quit his habit.
Well now little Ardi Rizal has apparently quit after a month-long rehabilitation program according to The Jakarta Globe.
A video of the smoking baby first appeared on the Internet a few months ago, and when such international outrage ensued, his parents handed him over to the authorities so he could undergo treatment.
Komnas Anak secretary general Samsul Ridwan was quoted by Kompas.com as saying the government must take responsible measures and protect children from the dangers of smoking, saying the emergence of child smokers in Indonesia was an "undeniable phenomenon.”
Hopefully now Ardi can get back to playing with his friends.
