Austin Residents Point to Fred Durst for Waste Management
'Fred Durst Society of the Humanities and Arts': Frontrunner for Renamed Austin Waste Management Department
The city of Austin, Texas solicited citizen feedback for renaming the Solid Waste Services Department. Among suggestions which highlight recycling or form a catchy acronym, one entry is a clear frontrunner, with over 8,000 votes: The Fred Durst Society of the Humanities and Arts.
The comment stream is mocking, but not as mean as you'd expect.
Austin may have miscalculated the effects of opening up the vote to the internet, since people online tend to troll when the opportunity presents itself. For example, one of the suggestions is "Lemon Party". 27 sick, sick people voted for it. Don't. Just don't.
By the way, there's no indication that, should Fred Durst's name win the online poll, Austin is obligated to change the name of the Solid Waste Services Department to Fred Durst Society of the Humanities and Arts.

Sad that "Nancy Pelosi Presidential Library" got so few votes in this competition, but hats off to Durst for running such a fine campaign.
