Australian dies after 'planking' on balcony, police say

Australian police said a man who plunged from a seventh floor balcony was taking part in the internet craze "planking". Planking involves someone lying flat on their stomach in an unusual and sometimes dangerous setting then sharing the photograph on social networking sites. The man identified as Acton Beale, in his early 20s had been planking in various spots on his way home from a night out but lost his footing and fell to the ground below when he tried to lie on the balcony rail for his friend to take a photograph.
