Police police stations in Victoria, Australia, have been robbed on average once every 2 weeks for the past 2 years. Police have yet to solve 12 of the 47 incidents.

Police shorts, badges, hats and handcuffs were stolen, as well as some unusual items, which include a flagpole, police signs, toilet fittings, $3 in coins, a bike with a baby seat, and a chocolate bar.

The cop shop crime wave - just under a theft a fortnight on average between January 2007 and April 2009 - is revealed in reports obtained by the Herald Sun.

The reports, released after a Freedom of Information request, show five of the 47 cases were allegedly inside jobs probed by the Ethical Standards Department.

A man stole an officer's sunglasses when he waited for his breath test result. Another stole a detective's mobile phone when it was left on charge in the interview room.
