A Colorado doctor found a foot a brain tumor removed from newborn baby Sam Esquibel.

Doctors performed surgery on Esquibel just three days after he was born. When they examined the excised tumor, they found it contained what looked like two feet, a hand, and thigh. Sam Esquibel is said to be doing well and will likely be discharged from hospital in the near future.

"To find a perfectly formed structure (like this) is extremely unique, unusual, borderline unheard of," said Dr. Paul Grabb, the veteran pediatric neurosurgeon who performed the operation on Sam at Colorado Springs' Memorial Hospital for Children.

Prior to Sam's birth, doctors noticed fluid in Sam's brain during a routine ultrasound. They then chose to perform an emergency cesarean section. After Sam was born, they discovered the tumor after performing an MRI exam.

Just how a baby managed to be born with a foot in his brain remains a mystery. The growth may have been what's known as a teratoma, a brain tumor consisting of tissue such as teeth, muscle, hair, even eyeballs. The foot in brain may also have been a case of fetus in fetu, a condition in which a fetal twin is former within another twin.

Whatever the cause, the results are compelling and disturbing. To view a photo of the foot in brain, click here.

Unbelievable but its true. I preferred it to be a case of fetus in fetus.

My hubby said that he saw this story on CNN today and they also said that they asked the parents if they can us it for science and they said yes and they also asked the parents if they would donate the foot to a baby that was born with only one foot.  I am trying to find this story.  This is a very unusual story.

Makes sense when I think about the Hox genes and such. Theres specific areas in our genome that is like a marker, saying make this body part on this end.

Watch a presentation on tv from a group that tested this on fruit flies, and had legs growing where the eyes shouldve been. x3

Very interesting.
