Baltimore Couple Catches "Crappy Neighbor" on Tape

It's the kind of prank teenagers pull all the time, leaving a nasty gift on their neighbor’s front stoop. But this time, the targets of that prank are the ones getting the last laugh. They caught the suspect on tape and put his face on the web for the world to see. ABC2 News reporter Joce Sterman shows us why they say this is much ado about something. It's illegal dumping of another kind, and it's all caught on tape. Cameras were rolling as a man made a special delivery when he thought no one was looking, tossing a ‘present’ onto the porch of his neighbors, Alyssia and Jim Essig. She says, “It was a bag of poop, we knew right away without a doubt. We pick up our dog's poop all the time. We're familiar with bags of poop." And the Essigs found that bag resting outside their Baltimore home last Monday. Alyssia says, “We kind of blew it off but then Jim decided to do a little bit more investigating." They were able to sniff out their culprit by tracking the stench right back to the footage from their security cameras. The family hadn’t put much thought about who dropped the bomb on their porch until they watched the tape and realized the man in the video was their neighbor. Alyssia tells ABC2, "We were sort of shocked that someone would deliberately place a bag of poop on our porch. We were not shocked when we found out it was him." According to the Essigs, this postmaster of poop is known as a not-so-nice neighbor. They decided to put his prank on YouTube after he hit a couple of targets with his shipment of stink. Alyssia says, “There's another neighbor that has received two similar poop packages on her front porch as well." No one seems to know why they were targeted. We went to the suspect's house to ask, but he wasn't home. His phone number has also been disconnected. So now neighbors just have to wonder about the man who gives the phrase crappy neighbor a whole new meaning.
