BASE jumper leaps off cliff but chute fails to open

POLICE have seized graphic video showing the moment a BASE jumper's parachute fails to open in a near-fatal plunge.

The Port Douglas chef and experienced skydiver with hundreds of jumps under his belt, miraculously survived the 305m fall off Australia's highest sheer waterfall and is in a critical condition in Townsville Base Hospital. 

Incredibly, thrillseeker Hamish McCorkindale survived another jumping mishap earlier this year and a video of the incident was posted on YouTube (see right
