Australian News Anchor Belinda Heggen Belittles Mark Aiston's Manhood On the Air
Ten News at Five co-anchors Belinda Heggen and Mark Aiston were doing a short puff piece on England Cricket skipper Andrew Strauss, who carries a miniature version of The Ashes urn with him. Mark Aiston remarked, "I can't understand how something so small can be so impressive."
Without missing a beat, Belinda Heggen replies, "Mark, you would know about that." She is rewarded with a dark look from Aiston.
That's what she said. She literally said it. On national television.

Mark Aiston commented on the incident on his MediaInsider blog, and he seems to find it as funny as we do. Hey, he walked right into it.

If the roles were reversed that man would have lost his job and hung out to dry. It's sad that everyone is cheering this girl on all these forums. Feminism has gotten out of control.

He's a notorious practical joker, and she has been waiting for an opportunity to get him back on air. Once the cameras were off they both cracked up laughing. It's also worth noting this is well in line with the Aussie sense of humour.

A well known practical joker, really? I have never seen him play an off colour joke or insult someone on air before.

Yes they say now that it was a joke and taken as such, but the way she delivered the put down and the look he gave her didn't look like it was a bit of harmless innuendo. Sounded like an insult to me. Do you really think he would still be around if the situation was reversed?
