Bergdorf Goodman Brings in the Dogs to Fight Bedbugs

Bergdorf Goodman, that high-end stalwart on Manhattan's 5th Avenue, is not waiting for a bedbug outbreak to shut them down, even for one day. Bergdorf Goodman, among others, is getting proactive by hiring a bedbug-sniffing dog (a beagle, in fact) to seek out any uninvited guests among the clothing racks.

So far, Bergdorf Goodman claims to be bedbug free, but is not taking any chances. After-hours beagle sweeps will continue.

For some, the presence of an anti-bedbug dog is actually a selling point for the store. Says one out-of-towner, "I like dogs and I don't care for bedbugs."

The pooch has been on regular patrols around the men's and women's departments for several weeks.
