A Brazilian boy was admitted to hospital with 50 sewing needles inside his body and doctors think that the sewing needles were stuck in to his body one by one because it would not have been possible for him to swallow all of them.

Dr. Soltoski, who treated the boy said that although they have removed some of the needles, they cannot remove all of them because some are too close to vital organs or even inside the organs. He was brought in to the hospital last Thursday in Ibotirama, a small north-eastern town, by his mother who said he was complaining of pain.

His mother said that she didn't know how the needles got inside her son, but police are currently looking for the boy's stepfather. The case is being treated as an attempted homicide.

"We think it could have only been by penetration because we found needles in the lung, the left leg and in different parts of the thorax. It couldn't have been by ingestion," Dr Soltoski said.

Although there are no signs of wounds outside the body, but a picture of the boy's x-ray clearly shows some shapes inside his body.
