It's early Monday morning here in Vancouver and my coffee is slowly doing its job of waking me up. However, even with a cup of coffee, Monday mornings can be rough. So, for all of you who are not big on Monday mornings in the office here's a holiday you should be celebrating: National Milk Chocolate day! I think someone got it right when they said "Chocolate is nature’s way of making up for Mondays. "

National Milk Chocolate Day is a special day for a special treat. Are you a "Chocola-holic"? If you are, you look forward to each and every chocolate related holidays.

There are lots of flavors of chocolate. Milk chocolate is enjoyed in candies and in baking. Milk chocolate is the favorite of millions of people. So, its only fitting that it gets its very own special national day.

Important Note: Don't be dyslexic about this special day. Today is a day for Milk Chocolate, not Chocolate Milk Day.

Lest there be any doubt about celebrating this day........ Today should be spent consuming and savoring generous amounts of your favorite milk chocolate treats.

Happy National Milk Chocolate Day!

Here are some chocolate quotes that I came across when reading about this fun holiday:
Chocolate causes certain endocrine glands to secrete hormones that affect your feelings and behavior by making you happy. Therefore, it counteracts depression, in turn reducing the stress of depression. Your stress-free life helps you maintain a youthful disposition, both physically and mentally. So, eat lots of chocolate.
"My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already." - Dave Barry
"Chemically speaking, chocolate really is the world's perfect food." - Michael Levine, The Emperors of Chocolate: Inside the Secret World of Hershey and Mars
"Life is like a box of chocolates ... You never know what you're gonna get." - Forrest Gump

Chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream frosting, melted milk chocolate between the layers and dark chocolate leaves adorning. The bride asked for chocolate and that was all I had to work with.

They say students should eat chocolate before exams to make them more relaxed and happy, which makes for one more excuse to eat chocolate during midterms time.

I took this chocolate bar photo and as you can see I was tempted before the shoot was over (Teethmarks!) I am a self confessed chocoholic! Hope everyone has a happy chocolate day!!

For some weird reason, while I was reading through the article, it made me think of the nestle chocolate milk powder I used to drink when I was little. White chocolate is still the best chocolate out there.

Thanks for asking me to include this somewhat unsavory photo of my daughters lips dipped in chocolate.

It was an interesting exercise, because chocolate manufactured in Australia for the Australian market has additives that make it less likely to melt in the hot climate, which has a negative impact on the flavour, so we were struggling to achieve the effect that I wanted but the image has been popular still but possibly for the wrong reasons.

I have included a a brief history of Cadburys in the text accompanying the image.

We made sushi and had fondue with strawberries. Waiting for massive block of organic chocolate from Whole Foods to melt.

An assembly line (and my bed) was used to place Hershey's milk chocolate treats into turquoise wedding favor boxes.

This is the spread at a party I attended for a dear friend who was celebrating his 80th birthday. In the foreground, you see chocolate fondue with strawberries, grapes and bing cherries; barbecued ribs, salad, pizza and breads comprised the birthday feast, put on by his wife. Everything was amazingly good, including the birthday chocolate cake which was enjoyed by all. It was a joyous occasion and I'm glad to share it with you.

And Tea as well as Coffee, and of course Tobacco even though that one is on its way out in some areas of this World!

Ironically though most people seem to worry more about Tobacco then Car or Industrial pollution even less about Oil spills or Radioactive pollution due to Uranium waste!

Yet I am a fruit fan, Mangoes especially!

Can somebody send some mangoes for Paschen? You're spoiling my chocolate crunch. :-)

In my opinion though, one cannot start to care when things don't either smack them on the face or trip them on their way out. Since most of us seat in pigeonholes everyday, it is unfortunate that the news of the sea don't reach us.
