As would be expected, the two sons of the so-called 'missing' canoeist are angry with their mother and father for lying about his death.

Darwin disappeared in 2002 after a canoeing trip, when his wife claimed he had drowned. It turned out they had been living comfortably in Panama. Their picture was found online through a real estate website of new owners.

Anne Darwin stuck to her story that she was a "tragically bereaved widow" even when told her husband was still alive, Teesside Crown Court has heard.

Mark Darwin, 32, said: "I couldn't believe the fact she knew he was alive all this time."
