A month-old baby was sent flying through the air after a car backed into an East Naples apartment at a high rate of speed this week and struck the child’s crib.

The baby did not appear to have suffered any injuries in the Tuesday night crash, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

On Thursday, a large wooden panel covered the hole in the first-floor apartment at 2030 Rookery Bay Drive, which reports say was rented by Francisco Velasco and Diana Santiago-Torres. Shards of glass were on the ground outside the apartment and there were still holes in the dirt, where the Ford spun its tires after being embedded in the building.

The driver, 27-year-old Asa O’Neil Grant, 9440 Marino Circle, No. 102, was arrested on charges of reckless driving and driving without a license.
