I was sent a link by a good friend on Youtube of a disturbing article from The New York Times www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2009/05/13/us/0000EXPLORERS_index.html that details a new elite force set up by the Boy Scouts of America.  The new branch designed to so called fight terrorists and maintain border control is outfitted with children.   These same children are also suited up in full battle gear resembling a sqaudron of Special Forces and armed with air rifles.  The image is alarming of children in battle mode especially since it is happening in North America, when you see pictures of child soldiers from other nations it strikes a nerve.  Is this the new phase in war machines.  Start them young and title them "Explorers"  when really they are being trained as "Enforcers"

The issue is children should be children and not super soldiers.

Thank you for this story, Pair A Normal Guys, Inc. Again, I think this should be in world, and would like to add that the US Military continues to recruit children to serve in the US armed forces.

According to America's Child Soldiers: US Military Recruiting Children to Serve in the Armed Forces (Global Research, November 29, 2008):

"In violation of its pledge to the United Nations not to recruit children into the military, the Pentagon "regularly target(s) children under 17," according to the ACLU in a 46 page report titled "Soldiers of Misfortune."

According to the first story, the Pentagon also spends about $6 million per year to flog an on-line video game called "America's Army" to attract children as young as 13, "trains them to use weapons, and engage in virtual combat and other military missions...learn how to fire realistic Army weapons such as automatic rifles and grenade launchers and learn how to jump from airplanes,"... As of September 2006, 7.5 million users were [alleged] registered on the game's website, which is linked to the Army's main recruiting page.

Bottom line, it would appear that whatever avenue the Pentagon has to take to recruit America's children for war, it will.

Thanks again, and please consider a tag change to "World". Thanks!
