Chick-Fil-A Staffer Hands Out Racist Reciepts in Irvine

UC Irvine student Kelvin Lee posted a photo of the receipts two of his friends received after ordering meals at a local Chick-Fil-A. The two students were Asian (UC Irvine is a majority-asian campus), and the staffer, identified as Lia, printed out receipts bearing the names Ching and Chong.

Said one of the students, “I went to talk to the manager, and I told him that this cannot happen ever again. I chose to be calm about it, but I was ready to go off. I made it known that it wasn’t okay, and that I didn’t appreciate it whatsoever. I think I indirectly fired Lia…”

We're not sure if Lia was actually fired or not, as this story is still yet to reach critical mass.

However, the story is indeed spreading. If there's one thing the internet loves, it's a witch hunt. Outrage against the Chick-Fil-A staffer brought even more racism to the surface, and Lee wrote a follow-up post urging readers to just settle down:

I realize Chik-Fil-A hasn’t exactly had the best track record when it comes to issues of social justice, but I don’t think the horrible mistake on the part of one individual is reason enough to launch a witch hunt. There’s no way the person who hired this woman would have been able to know she’d do something so stupid.

As Bas Rutten would say, "Don't you ever do this!"
