Claire McCaskill, the spitting Senator from Missouri
When Democrat Claire McCaskill gets mad, she gets really mad, spitting mad in fact... or maybe she doesn't need to be mad at all to let go of a loogie. The junior Senator from Missouri was all class after a recent MSNBC interview when she spat on an earpiece and then handed it to former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to use.
It seems that as a life-long Democrat Claire McCaskill wasn't content to spew insults at a political rival, she had to cough up something really special. One of the wettest, and yuckiest, displays of political rivalry to ever make the headlines; junior Senator McCaskill's stunt had me wanting to know more about the woman behind the spittle.
It's hard to believe that this spitting Senator McCaskill is the same Claire McCaskill who, in May of this year, was named one of the 17 women most likely to become the first female president of the United States by the New York Times. Even more surprising was the revelation that Senator McCaskill was the first female senator ever elected in Missouri. Way to show the voters what a lady can do in office, McCaskill!
It could have been worse, she could have taken the earpiece to the "ladies room" before handing it over to the unsuspecting Mitt Romney. Good thing McCaskill is only a JUNIOR Senator, because she clearly has some growing up to do.
In what sounds like a true Washington insider move the junior senator from Missouri is quoted by Politico as saying to Mitt Romney as she handed him an earpiece before an appearance on MSNBC, "I spit on this before I put it in." Oh the humanity!
It is a direct quote by the website and from the sounds of the story it was actually the reporter that heard Claire McCaskill make the 'loogie' claim. Can anyone else picture this old hag shoving that earpiece in her mouth? Or spitting on it.
It sounds quite disgusting. The original story is here from Ben Smith and Politico and there is a very robust discussion going on at the website on the issue of the McCaskill loogie claim.
