Cop Quits Over Elderly Man's Traffic Stop That Nearly Killed Him
A Texas Police officer Grant Jones went over the line in trying to apprehend a vehicle speeding in Diboll, Texas. The Vehicle in question was being driven by Tracy Lott who was carrying a passenger named James Lodge an elderly man on a oxygen tank who was also in urgent need of medical attention . The two were caught speeding by Officer Grant Jones on his police cruiser dash cam on the highway attempting to arrive at the nearest hospital for medical attention. What was also captured was the smashing of the driver's side window the drawing of his service pistol and Officer Jones' abuse of power directed towards the two men. The arresting techniques used by Officer Jones were a clear misuse of power , he has since resigned over this incident. Tracey Lott the driver of the vehicle is still shaken by this unfortunate ordeal , he was held for over an hour and a half and taken away in handcuffs. Police Chief Kent Havard explains of the difficulties officers face , this incident is one that Officer Jones should have assessed with more common sense he then may had handled this differently.
