Cops Abuse EMT Ambulance Driver: Unprovoked Assault
Here is yet more proof of a sense of a Police State on the verge of becoming a reality, watch as this EMT ambulance driver is unlawfully detained and then assaulted by State Troopers. The footage comes via Youtube member billyhizzle. At one point the EMT driver has one officers hands on his throat in a very derogatory manner. This is a clear case of power abuse by those in authority especially when the ambulanceand it's staff were en route to the local hospital with a sick woman inside. Not the way a civil servant is supposed to be treated. The cop claims the attendant assaulted him but witnesses say otherwise. The entire ordeal was captured thankfully on video. WATCH THE FOOTAGE TO SEE THE PROOF. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQKBWomWmqo&feature=channel_page

Look, I'm no apologist for police thuggery.
But... Dude... the guy clearly fights the Po-Po and elbows the cop in the neck. Not a good idea.
And the "LOOK AT THE INJUSTICE" headline waters down and desensitizes folks to the 99.9% of the time when the cops ARE out of line.
Please. Choose your battles.
Please.

Dwight you would throw an elbow too if you had three cops wanting to arrest you for nothing but doing your job. And your "po-po" reference is a sign of your ignorance. So please choose your phrases more carefully. Please.

Hello,
If you watch the dashboard cam of this footage (also posted on youtube), you will find that the police provoked every bit of this mess. The ONLY reason, that the officer let go of the Paramedic's neck was that last year Oklahoma passed a law making it a FELONY for ANYONE to attack a Paramedic. (Where I am at, in Illinois...this is also the case)
It is clearly evident in the dashboard video that it was the POLICE officer with a renegade cavalier attitude who started this incident. Had that patient in the back of the ambulance coded, that officer would be liable for her death. Mr. Wright (chief paramedic) was very professional in his attempt to handle the situation considering the incidents that he was having to deal with at the same time. A blow-hard officer and a critical patient...(from what I was understanding she was having a stroke) If you listen carefully, Mr. Wright was trying to reason with the officer and told him that if he wanted to make an arrest, he would be allowed to do so after bringing patient to hospital. Also, the driver of the ambulance has come out with his statement and his explaination of what happened. (Also on youtube)
This is an extreme example of derelict law enforcement trying to establish a God complex. Since this has occurred, the officer has taken a voluntary (paid) leave of absense. His "justification" was that he is a recently returned soldier from Iraq....apparently they did not debrief this man enough.
Have a great day.

The police dash board cam showed, prior to the cell phone video, that the EMT assaulted the police officer. The officer was walking away and the EMT grab him aggressively. Why did the EMT do that? But, we don't see that on the cell phone video. I don't know to many officers who get grabbed like that and nothing happens to the person assaulting the officer. No you don't do that to a police officer period. The video was held back by the police and released today. Personally, it didn't make sense why the ambulance was even pulled over, were their lights not on? Heck, the cops should have escorted the ambulance to hospital and I'm sure none of this would have happened. Oh well......

I don't know what video you was looking at, but this one sure did not show anyone assaulting that idiot cop. That EMT guy was nothing but nice and sensible. Take off the blinders and watch the video again.

did you not read Rexx's post, obviously your ignorance has blinded what really happened. The Dashboard cam on the officers patrol car shows the EMT had aggressivly acted towards one of the officers. go to You Tube or any major public news company and watch the non biased video. Now Public . com is a private and biased website.

This is nothing new. This so called officer is just one of many who continue to abuse positions of authority. Unfortunatly human nature prevails, and swollen heads win over any professional reason. This is nothing new. In almost any situation you will find these so called officers making important dicissions based on there own self indulgence. What I mean by self indulgence, is the fact that they have swollen heads and cannot get over themselves. Unfortunatly human nature prevails, and another position of authority is abused. These people are trained to be assertive and in command, and then they are released on society only to live vicariously through a gun and badge, and believe they are the law. This pitiful excuse of a man should be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest. Maybe this would set an example for the rest of our less than trained and monitered police officers. I have been noticing an increasing amount of disrespectful, swollen headed, dumb ass officers than ever before. These people take this job for all the wrong reasons. Intelegence is certainly not a requirement for becoming a police officer. Half of these idiots cannot even direct trafic let alone make a life or death decision without taking there own ego into account first. If any officers read this, I can only hope you can realize you are not without flaw, and you are not all mighty himself, and stop treating everyone you run into like some kind of criminal, or low life. Generations of law enforcement have been setting a bad example and it is about time the people who pay there salaries settle for nothing less than properly trained, and professional officers who can set there personal issues aside for eight hours a day.

I hope these cops are put in jail. Not just the one the pulled the amublance over, but the other ones that support what the cop had done.
I thought ambulance drivers and police are equals.
The cop had no buisness pulling the ambulance over.

You know watching the video again, the police actually instigate the whole thing.
It looks like the cops had nothing to arrest him on and were trying to get him to be confrontational so they would have some excuss.

look at around 2:30 on the tape. The officer does not have obsessive pressure on the EMT's neck. he has a hand on his back and saying to the EMT to calm down. The EMT does not comply when the officer tries to detain him in the first place for breaking driving laws without flashing lights, which if you read Oklahoma States Constitution warrant detaining an individual. When the EMT resists and acted in an aggressive manor towards the troopers the used necessary but not over aggressive use of force to calm the indivudual down. You can even see the EMT move his head back and forth while the officers hand is on the top part of his neck. This is a common techinique to calm an individual down. At the end when the tape is cut off you can see the officer seeing the situation for the man's wife to be an emergency lets the EMT off the hook and then proceeds with what appears to be a probably police escort to the hospital. This video is tweaked in a way to further Racist accusations in this country, so before you post please do some research

Typical idiot redneck cops. Nice, professional language there trooper, what college did you attend?
How many times do you think this goes on without the public ever seeing it?
I don't think race had much to do with it, although race always has a little bit to do with everything, especially when it comes to law enforcement. This was just a moronic pair of state troopers who still live in the 1950's when they were allowed to abuse with impunity. Sad but typical.

As a former police officer I would have to say that what I observed was a serious case of "roadrage" on the officers behalf.
I don't have a problem with him stopping the ambulance since it was not running code 3 (red lights and siren). The problem starts with the officers attitude and the fact that he should have let the ambulance proceed immediatly as soon as he learned they were enroute to the hospital. If the officer felt justified, he could have contacted the ambulance company with his concerns about the drivers actions.
I know the agency involved is trying to avoid a lawsuit by standing behind the officers actions and saying he was fully within his rights to stop the ambulance, however, even if the stop was justified, the officers attitude and violent actions were not.

The Trooper should not have used profanity. The EMY guys were definitely wrong, especially the one who came out the back. He was told to get back in but refused. Both EMTs should go to jail and trooper given a reprimand for bad language. Some people just don't know when to shut there pie hole.

Frank Rizzo, Police Commissioner from 1967-71 was the key figure in Philadelphia government and built his career on opposing black efforts to challenge the status quo he also made MOVE The Boogie Men! In 1967 Rizzo's first major action as Commissioner had been to halt a peaceful demonstration of some 3500 Black high school students asking for educational reforms and Black Studies programs by unleashing hordes of cops who charged with no provocation and chased black students for blocks. Many were beaten.

**********Cops Abuse EMT Ambulance Driver: Unprovoked Assault**********
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This title needs to be put on a Billboard Sign. The Officers names should be included, putting them on notice for all to see!! I can't believe that all the Officers recieved was five days interruption in employment, oh WOW that is so harsh (NOT).... They should be thrown off the police force by the seat of their pants. But alas, we all know that the world does'nt work like it should anymore!!
