A San Diego couple has stolen an ATM machine from a local cafe. And, as if this was not enough of a strange occurrence, the two did not bother to hide the ATM, choosing to place it on a cart instead. The couple than pushed the stolen ATM in a cart down the street in broad daylight. What is surprising is that this odd act did not arouse any suspicion in passers-by, allowing the couple to escape. Police are now looking for the culprits.
The ATM was reported stolen from the Daily Grind Coffee House and Cafe on El Cajon Boulevard.
The man was described as white, about 6 feet tall and well-built wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans and possibly a hat. The woman was said to be white, with shoulder-length blonde hair, of medium build and height and wearing light colored clothing.

This story shows how much out of touch people are with their surroundings. It is either that or total apathy.

It's the phenomenon, I think, wherein if a person appears confident to be doing what they're doing, you assume they're supposed to be doing that thing. Probably everyone figured they had been hired to transport it somewhere. (I mean really, who steals an ATM in broad daylight?)
