Pat and Sheena Wheaton, a couple from New Zealand, wanted to name their baby 4Real, but the government registry said they couldn't because it included a digit, are going to call him Superman instead. They are disappointed however and will still call their son 4Real as a nickname.

Mr. Wheaton came up with the name when they saw their son for the first time on the ultrasound scan and realized their baby was 'for real'.

"No matter what, its going to stay 4Real," Mr Wheaton told the New Zealand Herald newspaper, "I'm certainly not a quitter".

He said criticism of the couple posted on the internet regarding their choice of name had been difficult to handle.

"I did go online and Google some of the stories and as tough as I am, it does get to you, but there's no point getting upset," he said.

"It could be a 10-year-old school girl making those comments."

Some other odd baby names include:

Audio Science (son of Shannyn Sossaman)
Daisy Boo (daughter of Jamie Oliver)
Jermajesty (son of Jermaine Jackson)

I hate to be one of those people that is putting them down, I certainly assure you that I am not a 10 year old girl. But really, if you love your child, give them a name that they are not going to get made fun of for. Being a kid can be hard enough as it is. You're welcome to call him 4real as a nickname, but having your name on the class list be Superman? Who is going to want to marry someone with the name 'Superman'. The couple has lovely names. Your name says a lot about who you are, being called Superman is just asking for trouble.
