Bad luck and patience went together  when I was wrapped in an  traffic accident last night in Havana.   While I was waiting for the traffic light in green,  a drunk man trying to cross the avenue,  passed in front of my car and crossed the double yellow lines, when a russian Moskvich Aleko hit him strongly and threw his body to the air…

Trying to avoid the man, the Aleko driver turned left and hit my car by the left side.  The man was picked up of the floor by the chauffeur and taken to a community clinic located 600 meters of the accident.

Some pedestrians helped to put him in another car, although many people in the scene remained static and they were not involved. I called 106  (Police) inmediately, and they came in 15 minutes.

The experience of a traffic accident is many times traumatic, but this was for some moments funny. First versions about the man's health condition pointed out that he had a head trauma and other minor injures. An ambulance took him to the Calixto García General Hospital, but two hours later he returned to a bar near the place of the accident, and was seen drinking rum again, celebrating his victory against the two cars.   Surprise!

Meanwhile, five police cars and two motorcycles attended the case on the road. One police crew delievered the matter to the following and no action was taken with us, the drivers, waiting for news.   We spent seven hours at all, and finished at a Police Station making charges.

At last, the results were a happy new-born man and two cars damages. Definitely, we the drivers must consider to drive more carefully, because there is much more traffic and more rum in Havana today.
