i never liked corndogs as a kid, and i just couldn't remember exactly why. part of me thinks it is the mushy cornmeal. the other part of me thinks it's the taste of the salty non-snappy hotdog. ok, that description makes no sense on its own, but if you ever eaten a hot dog, you know the sensation you get when your teeth bites right through the outer skin. it has a kinda snap to it, like you broke through a tightly bound packaging. that is something you don't get in water boiled dogs, and definitely not in corndogs, cause they might as well be steamed.
but i decided that i may be judging corndogs unfairly cause the ones i had as a kid were probably not very good to begin with, and how can a nathan's corndog be wrong? curious, i got one. and i was still disappointed. even though the cornmeal was crisp and not mushy, i still didn't like the taste of the bland corn coating. and the hotdog didn't have the snap that a grilled hotdog has. and nevermind how wrong a corndog just looks. i am definitely never getting a corndog again.
