NP Rank:
Dad chops son's hand off in fight over banana
Father goes Bananas.
In my day we used to just get the Belt when you made Dad mad.....
A Papua New Guinean father has lopped off his son's hand when a family fight erupted over a bunch of bananas.
The Southern Highlands (SHP) family have since sent the severed hand back to their village for burial, while the 20-year old recovers in the Mendi General Hospital.
Moson Wape, from Seven Kona in the Kagua district SHP, had his lower left hand cut off after his father tried to slash him on the head, PNG's National newspaper reports.
The incident occurred on the weekend when Wape intervened in a fight between his father and another son arguing over a bunch of bananas.
The father swung his bush knife and chopped off Wape's hand and also slashed his head.
Police are investigating.
This is a parenting tactic I never considered.... But wouldn't you want to encourage fruit and veg and chop hands off for junk food instead ?

Here is yet more evidence that when the Human Genome Project reported that the human genome is between 96 - 98 % chimpanzee ( depending on the which one of the 4 methods of commonly accepted comparison are used ) they weren't fibbing ...
Bananas are tasty, but not that tasty ...

I once saw an ape produce a brown banana with his built in dispenser system and then munch it while staring right at me.

I doubt very much that is true, but regardless, changing the subject with a wildly off-topic and inane reply like this doesn't change the fact that, as human beings, our instrumentation is indeed at least 96% chimpanzee ... in my book that explains quite a lot ...
Companies and governments figured this out a long time ago ...
IMHO it's really better to consider it rationally, rather than let it freak you out so bad the only reply you can make is in the mode of a grade-schooler trash-talking some toilet humor ...

Well well, aren't you in a huff today. I didn't know we had turned over to "serious debate only" in comments made on a story of such gravity and magnitude of a banana fight, A story that does not even mention primates, which is in the category of strange.
And for the record, brown banana comment, very true, Seattle Zoo, Full Family present in shock and horror.
.....And for you intellectuals a Caltech paper on Gorilla Coprophagy. (Paragraph 7)
I like to post these stories and comments, because sometimes we humans need to smile, laugh or shake our heads in disbelief, even if we don't know it. all work and no play make jack a dull boy. I can be as serious as anyone here, but I personally think it's worth taking breaks before the blood pressure rises.

ok , World, you got me on that one ...
Still bathroom humor though - kind of yucky, really ...
I guess an image of a gorilla eating its own excrement might possibly be funny to some ... can't imagine how, but still possible I guess ...
