Lebanon finds 'mismanagement'

By Deborah Highland • THE TENNESSEAN • December 24, 2008

LEBANON — A dead city employee apparently was issued a Christmas bonus this year, and a former historic committee member who is deceased was also on the list to receive one, Lebanon officials discovered during a budget work session.

The holiday bonuses cost taxpayers $100 each and were given in the form of Chamber Bucks — gift certificates that can be spent at any business that belongs to the Lebanon/Wilson County Chamber of Commerce.

Questions arose about the program earlier this month, when Ward 3 Councilman William Farmer asked Finance Commissioner Russell Lee for a list of everyone who receives the certificates.

I'm alive and I can't get a job. Lucky stiff.
