Man Wakes Up at Morgue, Terrifies Staff
A 50-year-old man from Libode, South Africa woke up to find himself at the morgue. His family, thinking he had died of an asthma attack, called up an undertaker, who took the man to the morgue. 21 hours later, he woke up in the morgue fridge and started to scream.
Even more terrified than the man was the morgue staff, who ran away when they heard him screaming. Eventually they returned to let him out of the fridge.
"The family called a private undertaker who took what they thought was a dead body to the morgue, but the man woke up inside the morgue on Sunday at 5:00 pm and screamed, demanding to be taken out of the cold place."
South African Health Department spokesman Sizwe Kupelo calls upon all would-be citizen undertakers to let a doctor, paramedic or the police decide on whether or not to take someone to the morgue.
