Mostafa Mahmoud Zayed had been dead for three days on his Marina del Ray balcony from a single gunshot wound to one eye, but his neighbors didn't call the police because they thought he was a Halloween decoration.

The 75-year-old man was slumped over a chair on the balcony of his apartment on the 13900 block of Bora Bora Way but his neighbors thought he was part of a Halloween display so they didn't do anything about it.

"The body was in plain view of the entire apartment complex [and] they all didn’t do anything,” Raishbrook said. “It’s very strange. It did look unreal, to be honest.”

Police will examine the body today to determine exactly what happened to Mostafa Zayed.

According to the Toronto Star, the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

For Marina del Ray, it doesn't surprise me. I know the area quite well. The people there are, well shall we say, self absorbed???

Next year he can be a skelton John Doe if they leave him there like some people do with the Christmas Decorations.
