To raise the debt ceiling or not to raise the debt ceiling that is the question. To be or not to be an economy killer that is the question. Woody Allen said that politicians are one step below child molesters. Perhaps the time has come for a constitutional amendment requiring our politicians to wear the logos of their endorsers and contributors on their suits and helmets like Indy Car drivers so we will know exactly who they are representing as they drive the world economy right over a cliff.

If you listen to President Obama if the debt ceiling is not raised by August 2, 2011 the world economy will tank. If you listen to one of his wannabee challengers Michele Bachmann if the debt ceiling is not raised by August 2, 2011 it will be no big deal. What we do know is that when Tom Lehman Brothers collapsed because of the Bush Tax cuts for the top 2% of Americans who own 40% of the US wealth and the Bush Iraq and Afghanistan wars President Bush threatened Congress that if they didn’t pass the TARP Bank Bailout immediately that he George W. Bush would declare Martial Law the next day. In 2008 the United States was one hair from becoming a fascist dictatorship.

France during the Monarchy had a regressive tax system in which the tax rate decreases as the income increases. This placed a heavy burden on the poor people while numerous exemptions existed for the clergy and nobility like the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and offshore tax havens and loopholes which allow our nobility to pay no taxes at all. This allows our nobility to buy our Republican politicians and Fox News to tell the people that if Rupert Murdoch is forced to live on $47 Billion the obvious lie that he will not be able to hire people or buy that special French jam he likes so much.

The new French Finance Minister Jacques Necker said that tax loopholes for the nobility and Priests must be closed to increase revenues and that borrowing more money would solve the country’s fiscal shortages, the Obama position. The King’s Ministers heard this and fired him. As the price of bread soared and famine swept the land and Queen Marie Antoinette heard that the people had no bread to eat she screamed “Let them eat cake!”

Noted Christian Michele Bachmann and her Tea Party faithful are fond of calling President Obama a socialist, ignoring Jesus Christ who commanded that everyone sell all of their possessions and give all of the money to the poor. The French financial crisis caused the French Revolution and Marie Antoinette’s head rolled off the guillotine. According to spiritualists this carried on Karma is the reason for Michele Bachmann’s numerous debilitating migraine headaches.

Now, once again the reincarnated Marie Antoinette Michele Bachmann is screaming from the floor of the House of Representatives and from Iowa televisions “I will not raise the debt ceiling under any ciircumstances. Let them eat corn!” If the GOP once again drive the country and the world into a financial ditch can Martial Law and a fascist dictatorship in the United States be far behind? Perhaps the goal of Michele Bachmann is to become Dictator, not President of the United States of America. That would make headlines.

The fate of the nation not withstanding, this does not bode well for the futures of the Republican Party, U.S. presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann nor her minions within TEA Party Caucus either.

For many, it's a head-scratcher. Don't those Republicans see the danger in their hardline stand against allowing the U.S. government to borrow the money it needs to continue operating? GOP members of Congress not only insist on tying any deal for raising of the debt ceiling to a deficit-reduction scheme, they are demanding that such a scheme not raise a dime of revenue -- not even from the wealthiest Americans, who are still basking in their Bush-era tax-cuts. On Friday, House Speaker John Boehner walked out of debt-limit talks with President Barack Obama, even after Obama offered the speaker a plan that would have made $650 billion in cuts to safety net programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

But, really, Boehner had no choice but to walk out -- if he wants to continue on as speaker, that is. The Obama deal, you see, included the elimination of certain tax breaks for the rich, and the closing of corporate tax loopholes, the president told reporters. And Boehner is on notice from the Tea Partiers within the ranks of the GOP that no means of increasing revenue is acceptable, not even for the easing of America's economic woes. Hot on Boehner's heels is the ambition of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.

There's a temptation, when assessing the showdown over the debt ceiling that is bringing the United States to the brink of defaulting on its debt, to view the confrontation in terms of Republicans vs. Democrats, liberals vs. conservatives, Obama vs. Boehner.

What we're really witnessing, though, is a ruthless power-grab by the architects of the Tea Party movement for control of the Republican Party. And if they have to destroy House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, to do it, they will. Heck, if they have to destroy the United States in order to grab the levers of GOP machinery, they will, content in the knowledge that, as elites, they will have first pick of the spoils.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the newfound love between Tim Phillips, president of Americans for Prosperity (AFP), the Tea Party organization founded by David Koch, and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., the Tea Party-allied second-in-command of the House of Representatives. Cantor has made a specialty of undercutting his own speaker's negotiating power as Boehner tries to cut a deal with the president.

When, two weeks ago, Vice-President Joe Biden and GOP leaders were close to making a deal that would have given in to Republican demands for budget cuts, Cantor refused to go along because the deal included some tax increases. By walking out of the talks, Cantor won the hearts of Tea Party leaders, and, many said, a shot at the speaker's job. For if Cantor can prevent Boehner from brokering a deal with the president, the logic goes, the speaker could be so weakened as to lose his footing as the House Republicans' top man. That would leave Cantor positioned to step in.

On August 3, 2011 we'll see the world prosperity brought by Americans for Prosperity ie The French Nobility if there is no deal. This could make the Great Depression look like a day at Disneyland.

Karenfish, as much as some attempt to downplay and mislead on the motivations of the TEA Party, with the alleged leadership of the Republican Party having ceded to the extremists within their party, members of the TEA Party have appeared all over the television, gleefully calling for the collapse of the government.

So much for that patriotism they claim to possess.
