One guy didn't wait for economic doomsday predictions to come true in order to go all Road Warrior.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on a charge of stealing diesel fuel from the underground storage tanks of two service stations earlier this month.

Richard A. Owens, of Richmond, was taken into custody by Richmond police late Thursday night, Sgt. Lowell Neinast said Friday.

Neinast said the arrest was made after police received at least two tips about the case. Police obtained surveillance video of the suspect and the vehicle used in the thefts and the images were widely distributed in the news media.

The truck and trailer used in the theft were recovered by police, Neinast said.

Owens has not been cooperating with police who are still trying to determine if anyone else was involved, Neinast said.

The charge against Owens is a state jail felony which carries a maximum penalty of two years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000.

I went to put some diesel in my van today, £1.17 a litre I said to the staff at the petrol station if I filled it up I would need an armed guard. To stay safe I only bought ten quids worth.

That is so much! I can't believe it has gone up so much, I don't even know how people afford to drive anywhere now!
