Tsunami Dog: Rescued at Sea 3 Weeks Later

A dog was rescued at sea three weeks after being swept away by the tsunami that struck Miyagi Prefecture. A Japanese Coast Guard team spotted the dog atop the drifting wreckage of a house, and hoped that he would lead them to his owners. The dog was the only survivor on the wreckage, it seemed.

Tsunami Dog was reunited with his master, and the event was captured on video. Check it out below.

The tsunami dog's rescuers believe that he has been adrift since the March 11 tsunami. The starving dog was frightened by the rescue helicopter's propellers, so a boat was dispatched to collect it. Tsunami Dog was found just off the coast of Kesennuma in northern Japan.

I thought this was an April Fool's Day story, but it looks to be quite true. Also see Japan's Miracle Animals.
