Domino Record Falls on Domino Day
A new world record for fallen dominoes was set on Domino Day, which took place in the Netherlands on Friday, November 14. This year marked the 10th anniversary of Domino Day, which was created by Dutch media giants Endemol Productions. The world record attempt was part of a two-hour broadcast that was watched by 85 million viewers in eight countries.
A new record was set as 4,345,027 out of 4,500,000 dominoes fell. Nine other domino-related records fell, including "fastest topple of 30 metres of domino stones." To add to the fun, championship sprinter Churandy Martina raced the toppling dominos.
In total, it took eight weeks to set up the 4.5 million dominoes involved in the world record attempt. The entire project took a year to plan.

I guess that I have had my head buried in the sand, because I had no idea that a new world record for fallen dominoes was set on Domino Day, which took place in the Netherlands on Friday, November 14, 2008. I have always considered myself to be an informed type of person, as I watch the news, read the newspaper, go online researching news-related articles that interest me. However, I was "in the dark" about this. I had to go to MSNBC with Brian Williams to watch the video after the fact. I must confess that watching the world record attempt was so cool! I am so sorry that I missed the original two-hour broadcast that was watched by 85 million viewers in eight countries. However, on the upside, and since the glass is always half full with me, better late than never!
