Eric Williamson is fighting the indecent exposure charge against him: he was naked when making coffee at home at 5:30 am (updated report says 8:30 am). Police said a woman walking with a 7-year-old boy saw him through his windows. Williamson could face up to a year in prison and $2000 in fines.

Eric Williamson, 29, was alone at home on Monday. His roommates were away, so he didn't bother putting his pants on. He feels he is the victim in this case:

“Yes, I wasn’t wearing any clothes but I was alone, in my own home and just got out of bed. It was dark and I had no idea anyone was outside looking in at me… I am a loving dad. Any of my friends and anyone knows that and there is not a chance on this planet I would ever, ever, ever do anything like that to a kid.”

The complaint came from an unidentified woman who was walking with a 7-year-old boy. A Fairfax County Police spokesman said officers arrested Williamson for indecent exposure because they believe he wanted to be seen naked by the public.

UPDATE: FOX published a follow-up report.

Nobody is suing anybody, she reported him to the police and had criminal charges filed against him. You might want to read a little more carefully before you make broad generalizations about a specific group of people.

Intent is everything here. We need to see how difficult it is to be seen so as to determine how reasonable his expectation of privacy was.

I would bet that he thought no one could see him.

I often do that so dont see the problem - why was a 7 year old boy out at 5.00 am anyway - he should be in his cosy bed

But at about 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning, a neighbor walking her son to school says he deliberately exposed himself-- not once, but twice. First, she says it happened as he was standing in the glass doorway in the kitchen, and then again at a front window.

Thanks for the update SS. So it turns out the woman is the wife of a police officer.

Police wouldn't release the incident report or the name of the mother who filed the complaint. FOX 5 has learned she is a respected member of the community, and just happens to be the wife of a Fairfax County Police officer.

An aberration we here at the government intend to look into and ensure there is no chance of a repeat offense. Please have a nice collective day

This was also reported on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS....and The Comedy Channel...so what!

How do you know the actual time? Were you there at the precise moment at that precise location to witness this "incident"? Chances are that, No, you were not. You are merely going by what someone else said which, wth all do respect, is heresay. Unless you can prove what you're saying and back it up with facts you're simply relying on a "source" from another entity.

Gee I hope I don't get arrested...

But seriously, it does sound like there is more to this story than is being reported.

Because this was being spun into a national story, and the idea you can't be naked in your own house-- we wanted to come forward and say in this case our officers believed there was probable cause the law had been violated," said Jennings.

Why did she have a kid out at 5.30 in the morning?

I would sue the woman's ass for peeping into Eric's house and exposing the kid. She's the perv!

Funny to read the american point of view. For us European it's again the proofe about the prudish and uptight behaviour. So what! He's nude at home! Your opinion of the self called "Land of the free" who have problems with nudity?

"Updated report"? So the police are changing their story to fit their own ends? No. NONONONONO. I live in Fairfax, on the street over from this guy. DON'T let me get on thi9s jury. Damages!Stupid cop does everything his wife tells him to? "I saw a man naked... and. and... let me catch my breath... arrest him baby..." What-ever.

In addition to being the wife of a cop, according to one account she cut through his front yard. If she saw him while she was in his yard, she should be nailed to the wall for trespassing and voyeurism. In addition, the name of the woman bringing charges and her cop husband should be brought into public record so that any attempt by him to use his "good ole boy" connections and/or any improper conduct by his coworkers can be scrutinized mercilessly.

Does this mean that I can't get into my hot tub nude anymore ?

You would have to look real hard to see anything from a public street, not so hard from the woods.

The woman should be charged with invasion of privacy... what a load of crap...

I think the woman should be arrested for peeking in somebody else's home. After all, it is privacy infringement.

I think this is a case for a moment to reflect on the harm done by the gross alienation of society to our own humanity.  What, merely being naked within one's home is too much for people?  If he were a naked animal in a zoo, people -- even kids -- could see his nakedness.  Yet, like an animal in a zoo, he was confined, not outside of his "enclosure" mauling anyone, if he was even at all wild or a potential menace.  Being pious or civilized does not require clothing, oddly enough, as Adam walked & talked with God & one of Jesus' disciples fled naked when they arrested Him.  Why, even Peter stripped to go fishing, early baptisms were often done in the nude, and Jesus stripped to wash the disciples' feet.

People go too far.  Remember the saying, "Sticks & stones,...but words will never hurt me"?  Well, grow up people.  A naked man closed up in his house isn't the same as a rapist out on the street, whether totally innocent or lewd.  Boys growing up without dads in split homes has left America's boys terrified of being seen & America's women terrified of naked men.  Go see a psychiatrist or counselor or something, because the ones so easily offended are the ones with the problem.  SOUND parents can teach their kids sound thinking about such things, not hurry to put someone in jail out of their own home.  The man's a dad, huh?  How about if it were you, and you got put on a sexual-offenders list or something in such a case & had to explain to your kids why you could never go where other kids were, if it were all because someone just couldn't bear the fact that you were naked in your house & they saw you....from their upstairs window, over the privacy fence, through the hedges, while jumping on a trampoline suddenly pulled up close to a privacy fence, etc., etc.  This smacks of the modern, politically-correct "male-bashing".  For years, women have worn skin-tight swimsuits  -- arrest them ALL for teasing the little boys, right?  Are they perverts, or what?!  Women want to nurse their kids in public or go shirtless, bra-less, - whatever.  But, men are constant targets, right?

Get over it, America.  Maybe you all should go naked more, cause you're messing up your kids!  They can't tell who or what they are, and the mere sight of nudity or being seen nude may soon cause them to faint or have a heart attack, right?  -- Safety is what you really want, right?  So deal with your problems properly & wisely, not by oppressing others.  Teach your kids.  Educate them in wise ways about right, wrong, morals, gender, etc.  Otherwise, whatever will you do when your kids get older & actually have to live life & need to deal with such things for themselves?

At 5.30am in the morning, he will be half-asleep and he wouldn't expect a child to be around let alone others at that time. I think the parent should be reported for walking around with a young child at that time. What was she playing at?

The updated report says 8:30 in the morning.

i'm almost always nude in my home in the summer. it's the only way to NOT get heat stroke in this row Brick Oven House. i try to keep my front windows blocked, but the bathroom is on the second floor and if someone's going to see me there, great for them. i don't care.

i'm really sick of the childishness, prudishness and obnoxiousness of the USA. "my" country. grow the hell up, america.

Nude at Home

I'm curious...since I'm home...and nude...and you all know this now...Am I legally in the wrong?  Could you legally contact NP and file a formal complaint?  Or is it a VISUAL thing that "upset" this woman so much?  Or is it the fact that her child was with her? I'm also curious if her or her cop husband have any movies in their house above a G rating?  I'm also curious if they have cable television?  I'm curious if they swear, or get angry in front of their child? It's this level of absolute hypocrisy that, sometimes, makes me sad to be an American.  It's okay for our kids to watch TV, or movies with violence and innuendo, but god forbid they see a naked person.  People, we were born naked, most of us are going to die naked.  Get the flip over yourselves. To any of the above commentators who said comments along the lines of "grow up" or "get over yourselves", I say Amen.  I say, when she called the cops, or her husband called his buddies, their first response, in a normal society, would've been "he was in his house?  His OWN house? Uhh...."*click*....but no, not in the US.  Not in a country where the licensed driving age is 5 years under the drinking age, not in a country where you're considered an adult at 18 and can VOTE and DIE FOR YOUR COUNTRY, but have a drink and youre going to jail, not in a country where a 14 year old is a child sexually but an adult if they commit certain crimes, not in a country where abortion is legal but as soon as a pregnant woman gets murdered it's considered double homicide..... I could go on, but I digress.  Oh, for the record, I love the PRINCIPLES this country was founded on.  I love our constitution.  I love the dreams and goals of our founders.  I have issue with politicians and our legal system.  Oh..and no, I'm not actually nude right now, just trying to make a point (I'm actually at work lol).

LAND OF THE FREE

We can watch people get brutally murdered on national tv on various TV shows. Not a whole lot is left to our imaginations when it comes to showing that. However, a boob has to be covered up!! I much rather have my kids see a naked person (we all have the same body parts) than having them see people get killed/beaten/shot/murdered... Besides that...If I wanted to walk naked in my own home I should be able to...Unless of course it's clearly visible from the outside...That would be a bit weird...
