Fort Worth man calls police after his wife is called fat

A Fort Worth Texas resident called the police after his wife was called fat by men handing out fitness flyers to a local health club.

The woman was walking near the Heritage Trace Parkway with her new baby and was approached by two men promoting the Fitness 2000's 'summer slim' program with flyers. The men yelled at her to stop and take a flyer and when she didn't, she says they followed her and said she 'was fat' and 'had a fat stomach' and 'ate too many donuts'.

There's a Fitness 2000 gym location behind the neighborhood where the incident occurred. Those in the area have seen the flyers and say they're nothing new. Neighbor Kristina Stutz said, "I usually get about three of those a week."

After being followed and called fat, the woman reportedly became so upset that she called her husband and he called the non-emergency police line.

Police say the man who yelled didn't commit a crime because the woman wasn't followed home or injured in any way.

Fitness 2000 uses a company called Excel Distributing to pass out their flyers and is no longer doing business with them.

They have released a statement:

"We are about people being healthy and fit not, frankly, obnoxious."

Excel Distributing has said they 'don't condone' what happened.

The article specifies that he called the 'non-emergency' police line, so not 911 at all.

How did he call 911, as your title states, when it clearly states he called the non-emergency line?

I think this is funny!

I'm overweight now but I don't think I would call the police or even 911 if somebody called me fat. Maybe I would contact the company and make a complaint but then again I have so many things to do during the day which makes something like this unimportant "stones and rocks might break my bones but words will never hurt me"

names do hurt people who are sensitive about their weight, and many are. To go as far as calling in a complaint is beyong reasoning I think.Next big thing the fat busters police.

I'd call 911 too.... otherwise my wife might kill them both.
