With the Olympics coming closer and closer Olympic Madness is getting higher and higher. In China they just introduced the Olympic Bible.
Athletes, officials, spectators and tourists can pick up the Bible or just the New Testament for free during the Olympic Games next month.
Tens of thousands of copies of the Bible, the New Testament and booklets with just the four Gospels (according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) have been printed for the purpose, say officials of China’s Christian society.
News of the printing of the Scriptures should put pay to rumors started by overseas agencies saying the Chinese authorities would not make the Bible available at the Games.
Furthermore the Chinese authorities set 6 million 10 Yuan biljets in the market to increase enthousiasm by the Chines, specially in Beijing. The Olympic Beijing logo is put everywhere. From the mountains to the great chinese wall. Even in HongKong a special Olympic 20 dollar biljet has been introduced last friday.
Of course there are the souvenirs. Lots of them. With logo or one of the many mascottes. And one of the wierdest souvenirs is a key chain with a living goldfish.
Funny mistake in the new 10 yuan Olympic note:The People’s Bank of China released a commemorative 10 yuan note to celebrate the Olympics. The bank issued 6 million notes, which seemed a lot to me, but in a country with the world’s biggest population they were snapped up quickly. People even waited overnight to get a note.
10 yuan is only about $1.50 but they can now be sold for 50 times this amount. They are definitely a collector’s item worth getting your hands on.
A Chinese blogger who was thrilled to get a new note, but soon found an error.
From the picture, you can see the top of the Temple of Heaven image appears at the bottom of the note, under the Bird’s Nest stadium.
If the bank releases further notes, I am sure they will more than likely fix the image making this even more valuable in the future.
