This really creeped me out this morning. Someone figured out that if you remove Garfield from a Garfield comic strip, the result often becomes a dark statement about the 'empty desperation of modern life.' It's the perfect thing to start your day with. (I know, I know, this isn't news, but forgive me anyway).
Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb.

Interesting. Isn't Garfield himself kind of a gloomy, dark character? I would have thought things would lighten up once you take him out of the comic.

Maybe if they focussed on Odie instead, things would lighten up. He understood the value of a smile.

Such a crazy, creepy but compellingly lonely remix of Garfield.
And speaking of remixes, here's a site that randomizes Garfield panels into new comic strips...pretty cool: http://dougshaw.com/garfield.html

haha yes I agree with Julian. From what i remembered, garfield is kind of gloomy and angry all the time.
