The idea was to help with the stresses of life but it was interrupted by journalists, a local newspaper said that one man was shaking for 20 minutes after coming out of the grave.
"I meant it as a meditative exercise," pastor Thorsten Nolting told Reuters. "I wanted people to think about what weighs on them down in the darkness and gather the energy to resist it."
his plan went "horribly wrong" when journalists' persistent questioning as parishioners were "laid to rest" earlier this week ruined the serenity of the occasion.

Call me cynical but I don't think I would find this a "meditative" exercise.

This is horrible! I cannot even imagine what it would be like to be buried alive, let alone willing get into a grave and lie down... ummm, no

You're right, I shouldn't be so quick to judge.

Bizarre. I think that experience would freak me out a bit, but I'd definitely do it. Might help me to seize the day more.
