Now that Festivus has come and gone for another year, it's time to turn our attention to another TV-inspired holiday: Chrismakkuh.

Chrismakkuh (also spelled Chrismakuh) is an interfaith holiday that blends Christmas and Hanukkah. This year is an ideal time to celebrate Chrismakkuh since Christmas Day falls during the eight days of Hanukkah.

The holiday was inspired by an episode of The O.C. In the show, protagonist Seth Cohen says he created Chrismukkah when he was six years old thanks to growing up in a household with a has a Jewish father and a Protestant mother.

Just as Frank Costanza helped spread Festivus, Seth Cohen popularized Chrismukkah and interfaith parties take place throughout the holiday season. A rather elaborate Chrismukkah website was created by an interfaith couple in Montana.

For those who are interested in mashing up even more hoidays, there's Chrismahanukwanzakah, a blend of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and other holidays. Instead of coming from a TV show, this holiday was inspired by an ad campaign for Virgin Mobile. The ad stated the holiday was based on the religion Paygoism", a reference to Virgin's pay-as-you-go plans. The holiday is celebrated on December 13.
